Local service business: Google rating recovery for the Maps pack
A home-service operator was losing the Map Pack to a neighbor with fresher Google reviews. Simple-average math plus paced delivery moved the visible number without a one-day spike.

The situation
Google’s visible score is a simple average, but new ratings can lag. The listing had enough 1-stars from a bad season that organic flow was not going to catch the competitor in the pack.
What the campaign did
- Modeled the gap with the rating calculator, then bought a 50-review Google package plus a 25 follow-on.
- Copy was job-shaped — the category the Business Profile actually ranks in — not generic “great service” lines.
- Delivery was spread so the profile did not jump 70 reviews on a Monday.
- Every new Google review got a public reply within two days.
What moved
The Google rating moved from 3.2 to 4.6. The listing started appearing in the local pack on more branded and category queries. Maps lag still applied; the last 15 reviews took more than a week to show.
Volume went from 22 Google reviews to 95 Google reviews. Names are withheld — this is an industry-shaped example, not a named client testimonial.
